BUSINESS REDESIGN

Monday, February 18, 2013

I've mentioned a few times since the start of the new year that I have been working on some big changes for my businesses, well I'm happy to announce that I am finally ready to share all that I've been working on!

All of this took a lot longer than I thought it would. Waiting to launch these projects was particularly hard for someone as impatient as I can be but I'm happy I waited because I am so proud of the end results.

So without further ado...

Most people know that my husband works with me on our photography business but what most people don't know is that he is a pretty big part of my other businesses as well. He plays the very large role of business adviser which means that he helps keep all of my creative dreams organized and in working order; no small task I might add. :)

Shortly after getting married in August of last year we realized that for legal and tax reasons we needed to make some changes to our businesses; which of course lead to a complete redesign. Here's a brief explanation about the changes we made.

The First and maybe most important change from a strictly business point of view is that we dissolved the 3 separate LLC's and created one umbrella company  11 GRACE, LLC. We did this to help streamline our businesses legally and financially. The 3 individual companies will all be run as DBA's under our LLC umbrella; not having multiple LLC's will also make our taxes SO much easier!

My brilliant hubby came up with the name 11 Grace. 11 is our favorite number, that's why we got married on the 11th and Grace because of all that God has and continues to Grace us with which is why I've been designing under Shayla Grace for awhile now and why it's also in the name for our stationery business. God's  Love & Gace is first and foremost in my heart, life and business.

The Second major change we made, is that I closed my Today & Always Paperie shop and opened my laLa Grace Etsy Shop which will one day have a full online shop. If you're curious I discussed more of the reasons behind this decision in this blog a few weeks ago. We chose laLa Grace because it's a combination of my first and last name Shayla LaFreniere and Grace for the reasons mentioned above.

The Third change we made is that with the redesign of my Shayla Grace brand and website I also decided to add illustration to my list of services and plan to focus a lot more on this aspect of my business in the coming years. I love designing logos, websites and print materials for my clients but drawing and illustration brings me a joy that nothing else can. I've ignored this part of my creativity for along time due to insecurity, but I am letting that go and bringing more of what I love to my work from now on.

The Fourth change was the redesign of our Kee Photographers brand and website. I have struggled with the right look and feel for this brand for a very long time but I think I have finally found the right direction. I also plan to spend more time in the coming years on building our photography business because like drawing, photography fulfills me in ways that nothing else can. I've given little attention and love to it since moving to Virginia but that is all changing; we already have a number of photo sessions booked throughout the month of March and we plan to schedule many more in the coming months.

So grab a cup of coffee or tea or a yummy juice or smoothie and take some time to click through the new sites, there's lots to see, including new work in all the portfolio's and photo galleries and even some shots of my studio space.

Enjoy and please do feel free to share your thoughts, I'd love to hear what you all think!

How exciting! Everything looks amazing! I may be impartial to black and white so this is my cup of tea. Loved looking through to see each of your outlets. Why the name 11 Grace? :)

Hi Angel, Thank you for continued support and sweet comments. And thanks for the great question, I probably should have included that, I just edited the post so you can read why above now. :)
